Product Description
SVP 3-in-1 PhotoScanner PS-9700 is a innovative standalone film scanner that instantly converts 35mm film negatives, slides and photo prints into digital images without the need for a computer or application software. Now you can preserve all their photo memories by turning the millions of photographs now stored on slides and negatives into digital images to preserve them forever. We have created a very simple-to-use device that works right out of the box and produces a five-megapixel digital image in five seconds at a push of a button. The device features a 5.1mpix scanning chip (i.e. 5184x3600 pixels, 3600 dpi) producing the images large enough to be printed on a A4 page! Unlike similar devices currently on the market, the SVP 3-in-1 PhotoScanner PS-9700 does not require a computer or learning a new software program, and it takes very little space to operate, store or transport.

1 out of 5 stars Very poor quality & even worse technical support   July 27, 2010
Charles P. Kretzmann (Atlanta, GA USA)
I purchased this product to convert slides but was very disappointed with the quality. The initial display image looked pretty good, but after hitting the 'scan' button and it changed to the scanned image it was noticeably blurrier even on the tiny preview screen. There is no user adjustment for this focus problem and after contacting the seller several times and sending sample pictures that had been scanned I got an RMA to send the unit back for repair. It cost almost $20 to ship it back, but if it could be fixed it would still be worth it. Two weeks latter I had to contact to seller again to verify that they had received the machine back and check on the repair status. After a few more weeks they sent back what appeared to be the same unit, but the focus problem hadn't been fixed and now the detent that held the slide magazine in the correct location in the device no longer worked. I got another RMA and spent another $20 to send it back again. After a few more weeks I needed to follow up with the seller again to verify that the item had been received and that they were processing a refund. This turned out to be a waste of $40 in shipping and 6-8 weeks of time and multiple emails. I would strongly recommend staying away from this product.

3 out of 5 stars Digital Photo Scanner   July 26, 2010

The product worked fine; however, the directions leave a lot to be desired. They describe how to operate the different functions, but don't give sequential instructions on how to scan a slide then transfer the image to a computer. I was able to achieve this, but I don't think that someone with less computer skills could have figured it out.

I bought an extra bulb for the unit, however the instructions for the unit say an LED is used for illumination. Buying an extra bulb is a waste of money as it is not needed. Amazon should not have offered it for sale.

1 out of 5 stars Worked Great...for 9 slides.   July 10, 2010
jra2127
Bought for my mother in law for a birthday present. Her and the rest of my in laws were so excited because all of their childhood pictures are on slides. Bought because it seemed fool-proof and something easy for my in laws to use. Felt cheap right out of the box, you know the feeling, when you pick it up and know that it's not going to go well. Worked great for 9 slides. Easy to use, scanned to a sd card and we were happy. And then that was it. Would not "light up" slides to convert them. If I wiggled the buttons (another sign of quality, insert eye rolling) the light out flash on but did not stay on to light up the slide. Emailed SVP to return. Received an immediate response. Sent it back(-$12 s&h) now I wait for my money back.

Save your $135.

*Update--Returned to svp on 7/1 and recieved full refund on 7/15, only out the $12 s&h.

5 out of 5 stars Digital photo converter   July 9, 2010
Navy Ron (Tacoma WA)
I have lots of pictures from the last 50 years and was looking for a way to save and share them. This converter really did the job. It's fast and easy to use, and I've used it for photos, negatives and slides. They're archived on the SD disc and easy to post, edit and share online.

1 out of 5 stars PS9700a   July 7, 2010

1st unit I received from Slim Sharp was not new (which is what I paid for), did not work and was missing "in the box" accessories required to make full use of product. I had to borne cost (22.00) to return unit and the replacement unit was also not new
