I use this when I connect to the internet with my PS3, and overall, I'm happy with it. The keys are small, but not too small, and if you can send text messages on a QWERTY cell phone pad then this should be no problem. Only complaint I have is that they keypad should have been lit so we could see them in the dark.

I've been wanting this for a long time but didn't know if it is worth the money but I was wrong. It is excellent for texting your friends, online browsing and that is basically it. One thing that I was not aware of is that it has a mouse pad. The keypads are heat sensitive and work as a track-pad when pressing the track-pad button. I liked that feature a lot. It takes a little while to get used to but it took me 4 days with 2 hours of playing each day and maybe 1 hour of online browsing. The keys are a little small but can be dealt with after a while. It is a little bit pricey but the price being worth it depends on the person on how much they message and browse the internet. Overall, I give it a 4 star and would recommend to friends who message alot and browse the internet.

A Nice Time Saver For Anyone Trying To Text Online Or Just Use A Keayboard February 23, 2010

After buying my PS3 I tried going online and texting with some of the other people online but sadly using the controller's control stick to write was both time consuming and irritating and for awhile I pondered on which way was the best to go, and now for the convenience and price of this incredible item I now find it a lot easier to do my stuff online with this accessory. The keyboard is a little small; but not to hard to handle and that's something to appreciate as you don't want something that's big and bulky to use or something to small that it becomes almost impossible to use easily, Some people have found the keyboard to be to hard to use but like the standard keyboards of computers and laptops you just have to try and memorize where the keys are and it becomes a lot easier to use. The one other time that this item was a great time saver was when my console lost connection to my router and I had to redo my network information into the console again, the first time when I had to do this was when I got my console an that was a true annoyance at the time having to move the controllers stick and push the buttons and try and not make a mistake, when I did it again this item truly saved me that headache of having to do it that way again. So if you're a big online player or just want to text with people on the PS3 online site here's a great little number to get for yourself to help you out with that...

I have had this accessory for just over a year. I use it somewhat regularly.
Pros:
It's nice to have a keyboard literally at your fingertips.
Auto-off feature works well with decent battery life.
Its so light and positioned on the controller so perfect it's not at all intrusive on the controller.
Cons:
This is a big negative-Small buttons, like a qwerty keyboard. I would think that this wouldn't be an issue since I text on my cellphone's little buttons all day long but the buttons are not illuminated like a cellphone..so , if you like to use your PS3 with the lights off like I do this thing's usefulness is very limited.
It would be nice if the charging could be combined with the controller so they don't have to be plugged in seperatly.
Sony- Please make a new version of these with backlit keys. It would make this thing from just so-so to fantastic

I bought this for the PS3 because I got tired of texting with my controller. But it is too small to type with which forces me to look at the keypad while typing. Trying to look at the keypad and then the TV is just crazy and drove me nuts. I tried this for about two weeks before I just took it off permanently and bought the full size.
